The saucy singer
was there as part of a promotional tour to help flog the second
single, "Something Deep Inside," off her Walk Of Life
album. But it wasn`t all work and no play for Billie, especially
when her record company, EMI-Virgin, threw a harbour cruise
bash.
According to our
witness, 18-year-old Billie was all sauce in pink corduroy jeans
and a body-hugging denim jacket. "She looked absolutely
fantastic -- very cute." Piper was especially fetching
while strutting her funky stuff on the dance floor with two
friends who also happen to be her stage dancers.
The three were certainly
game for a laugh, at one point making a half-hearted attempt
on the record for the most people in a tiny cruise ship toilet
cubicle. However, their exertions certainly extracted a toll.
When the trio came out of the loo, all had watery eyes and a
bad case of the sniffles. "She seemed fine going into the
bathroom," our snitch reported, "but came out with
a cold."
Mind you, a runny
nose certainly didn't curb the singer's penchant for a colourful
turn of phrase. After bumming a cigarette from a music journalist
on the harbour cruise boat (unfortunately not the Silk Cuts
she favours), she'd only taken a few drags before announcing
to standers-by, "I'm going inside. My
nipples are as hard as bullets."
